Buying...man...it's something especially in 2022. I have always LOVED going and looking at houses to possibly buy. Now I say love but let's be real...who enjoys looking at a house with three crazy kids running around and trying to get them to not touch anything because, well it's not yours?!?! Just me? Totally kidding. Let's just say I LOVE looking at houses online and envisioning that my children will quietly walk through the house with me and listen politely.
Our home looking journey started right before I returned to work after having our third child. My husband casually showed me a house that was wayyyyy out of price range and I fell in love with it and our house was no longer our forever home. Now fast forward to having an almost 19 month old and we have FINALLY found THE house. We put in offer in on two houses and were beat out by way over asking price offers or even all cash which seems insane for the price ranges. We even bought land but then decided that we would end up spending entirely took much money making the house how we would want it to be.
On a rainy Wednesday much like today a new house popped on Zillow. I thought it sounded familiar and then quickly realized that we had seen the house about a year before when it went on the market but sold in less than a day. At that time we also had purchased land that we were planning on building on. After checking it out I sent it to my husband and said "I guess I wouldn't mind seeing it." Neither one of us ever thinking that we would actually fall in love and want to buy it.
A little backstory here... I had been praying that the right house would come along for us and when it did I prayed that there would be some sort of sign that hey this is the one. We had just looked at another house earlier in the week and when I prayed about it I swear I just kept hearing God say wait..just wait. Another little side note...my mother died almost a year ago, which in all honesty is probably what prompted me to want to stay home and be around my kids more. My dad bought my mom a grandfather clock when I was younger.
So now back to the house. My kids and I beat my husband to the house which is always common because he is late everywhere he goes not relating to work. We walked through the house with the realtor just casually, checking everything out. Pretty soon after getting there I heard a grandfather clock chime. I immediately knew that it had to be a sign from God and my mom that this house was the one (even though the grandfather clock doesn't stay haha). The rest of the story is history in the making...
